The RED camera is aimed at digital cinema market and not suited to Documentary on the shoulder shooting

While no one camera can be ideal for every shooting situation the RED is in fact one of the most versatile cameras on the market and can be reconfigured to suit a variety of shooting scenarios. Lighter than a varicam and designed with the battery pack set back to balance the payload, the RED can be used comfortably on the shoulder for extended periods. A number of accessories such as the B4 lens adaptor are available to make 'run and gun' documentary style shooting easier.
